Question

App making phone hot while driving & drains battery

Hello,

All of a sudden since I update my phone software, whenever I drive now my iPhone gets really hot and it drains the battery.

When I check battery usage it's always QuickBooks with background activity. When I don't drive the phone is fine, so I have narrowed it down to Quickbooks.

I have turned off tracking now, but ideally really need this function.

Can anyone help?

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I understand how important mileage tracking is for you. Rest assured, I'm here to provide some troubleshooting steps to ensure your phone doesn't overheat.

Here are a few steps you can try to help alleviate the issue:

  1. Check for App Updates: Ensure you have the latest version of the QuickBooks app installed. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements that can help with battery usage.

  2. Adjust Location Settings: Instead of having the app track your location constantly, consider changing your location settings to 'While Using the App.' This might reduce background activity when you're not actively using it.

  3. Close Background Apps: Before you start driving, try to close any unnecessary apps running in the background. This can free up resources and help your phone stay cooler.

  4. Battery Health Check: Review your iPhone's battery health in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. If the battery’s maximum capacity has significantly decreased, it could contribute to overheating and battery draining.

  5. Restart Your Phone: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve performance issues and improve overall functionality.
