Hello Usergillianh1974,  If you can turn of portrait orientation lock it will then allow you to rotate the device. To do that if you go to the control centre ( touch the right top corner on screen and drag down) Tap the portrait orientation to turn that on and the icon should then highlight in red that it is on.If you do not see that icon you can use the slide switch to control the rotation
