Question

QuickBooks keeps running in the background and draining my battery. It done 47% of it today despite having closed the app. Updated app iPhone 13. Is this issue known?

Software issue of the app running in the background after being closed. It drains the battery. Is this an issue that is known about? Is there a way to stop it?

I checked our list of alerts and I couldn't see anything related to battery issues when using the mobile app.

 

Although, QBO app will use your GPS or location tracking which can drain your battery. You can refer to your phone's instructions on how to prevent the app from using your location settings. 

 

You can also follow these steps on how to turn on the battery optimisation so the app will no longer run in the background:

 

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Select Apps & notifications and then select Advanced.
  3. Tap Special app access and select Battery optimisation.
  4. If QuickBooks is not listed for Optimising battery usage, tap the app and then select Optimise.
  5. Select Done.

I have the same issue. 

45% battery usage. Phone was so hot whilst driving. 

how can I remove permissions and still track mileage. Clearly a fault with the app. No updates available

 

iPhone 15 pro. Was running public beta 18.1.4 yesterday when it happened. But had been on running that for about a week with no issues before with QuickBooks boiling my phone and killing its battery!

QuickBooks needs to run in the background to accurately track mileage for real-time trip logging, allowing for automatic detection of driving activities.

 

There are various ways to save your battery usage and reduce overheating. Here are the following you can do:
 

  • Reduce screen brightness or enable the dark theme
  • Close or exit apps running in the background while using QuickBooks.
  • Turn on battery optimization by following the steps given by my colleague above.
     

Additionally, you can choose to activate low-power mode. This functionality will remove the app from running in the background. Therefore, you'll need to open the mobile app and leave it as it is during your trip. 

If you want to remove the app's permission, you'll need to manually add your trips to record them. You won't be able to use the automatic mileage tracking feature, as the app requires access to your location.

 

Here's how to remove permission to track location:
 

  1. Open your phone's settings. Scroll down and locate the QuickBooks app.
  2. Click the Location. Choose Never.
     


To add your trips manually using the mobile app:
 

  1. Navigate to the Menu icon. Click the Create Trip option.
  2. On the Add Trip page, complete the necessary details.
