Question

Why is mileage different between 2 points depending on whether you use the website or the iPad App? Even when using the iPad App the distance varies

I'm adding trips by entering the starting point and the end point, The calculated distance varies depending on whether I use the iPad app or QB Online? I am using the same addresses however sometimes it's 43 miles other times up to 49, surely it should always be the same?

Thanks for reaching out, aviation-edgingt

Let's get this sorted out so the Mileage feature is back on track.

I recommend first checking that the device's operating system is up to date. This can help ensure that the auto-mileage tracking feature is properly working.

I'd also like to share a resource that can help you get familiar with the Mileage Tracking feature in QuickBooks Online. Our Community guides explain how to find and use each of the app's features.

It's not the auto-mileage tracking feature, it's when you manually add a trip. You type in the start address and the End Address, it the auto calculates the distance. However when I use it through the website QB Online the journey is a constant distance however when you add it manually in the iPad App then the distance is lower than the Website calculation. Yes, I am using the exact same addresses and on the iPad the distance between them can vary.
Yes, my iPad OS is up to date.

Surely that wrong? Only just found out, but as result I have paid the incorrect amount as expenses. Possibly costing me a lot of money.

Hello, aviation-edgingt.

To isolate the issue, I'd like to make sure this isn't a problem with the browser. I recommend clearing the cache, since it can sometimes become full of older data, potentially causing viewing errors in QuickBooks Online. Clearing the cache will allow you to work with a clean slate and resolve errors like this. This article will walk you through the steps depending on which browser you're using: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online

If the same problem occurs, try using a different browser. This can be an issue with the browser that you use and QuickBooks.

If the same things happen, I suggest contact our QuickBooks Support, so they can investigate this.
