Hi, can anyone help me add payroll (core) to my Apple subscription on QuickBooks? I’m unable to add it via the web portal or the subscription page on Apple

Hi Jason, glad to have you here. I can help you add the Payroll Core subscription to your QuickBooks Online account. Let me provide the details below.

Since you are currently billed through the Apple App Store, you won’t be able to add QuickBooks (QB) Payroll Core directly because Apple manages your billing, which prevents QuickBooks from allowing upgrades or add-ons while your subscription is billed through them.

To add Payroll Core, you’ll need to transfer your billing from Apple to QuickBooks by following these steps:

  1. First, cancel your QuickBooks subscription through Apple.
  2. Then, sign in to QuickBooks Online via a web browser and subscribe directly to a plan that includes QuickBooks Payroll Core.
  3. After setting up your subscription, you will receive a confirmation email, and QuickBooks will handle your billing.
  4. After transferring billing, make sure to cancel your Apple subscription to avoid double billing.

Your QuickBooks data and access will remain intact throughout this process, so you don't need to worry about losing any information.

Once your billing is transferred to QuickBooks, you can easily manage and add Payroll Core to your subscription directly within QBO.

Additionally, after you've subscribed to QB Payroll Core, you can refer to this article to run payroll reports to keep track of your payroll expenses and trends: Run a report in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around if you have further queries about adding Payroll Core or any other concerns with your QuickBooks Online account. Just click the Reply button, and I'll get back to you.
