Question

How do I create a customer and a supplier with the same name?

Quickbook has a flaw that you cannot use duplicate Surnames for different customers. I have many duplicate customers, and many customers from different members of the same family but different addresses. Can I not get quickbooks to differenciate customers by address and not name as I am sick of the "Error: The name supplied already existsAnotherproduct or service is already using this name"

IMHO Quickbooks is not fit for purpose if I cannot have customers with same name, can someone please help?. Simply adding full stops or extra letters is not suitable.

Thankyou

Hello Alecohs,

QuickBooks won't allow duplicate names to prevent confusions and discrepancies on reports. You can try adding an initial in every customer and supplier's name. For example, put a title on the second name like Mr., Mrs., Ms., Engr., etc. Please see the sample screenshot below:

I'll be around if you have more questions.

As above question, but it is a business name with no alternatives such as initials or titles. They are a customer who has also now become a supplier.
