I have a QB online account but it is too advanced for my needs and I need QB self employed. How do I switch or downgrade?

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, hello212. Please keep in mind that there isn't currently a direct way to downgrade from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). Let me provide step by step-by-step processes so you can switch from QBO to QBSE smoothly.

You'll want to cancel your QBO account first to avoid receiving billing for this plan. Then, subscribe to QuicBooks SelfEmployed so you can start using it. In case you have previously entered transactions in QBO, I recommend exporting your data to Excel before doing the process. You can open this article to see the steps to achieve the process: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

After that, you can now import your data to QBSE. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Imports.
  3. Choose an account and click the Import Older Transactions link under the Action column.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
  5. Click Import.

Additionally, you can also connect your bank account to QBSE. This way, your latest transactions download automatically into the program. You can check out this article for the complete details: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Lastly, refer to this article if you need various details on how QBSE tracks your business income and expenses and how they work on the program: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview.
