Question

I have a UK quickbooks subscription and may have a client that will be based in Canada. Can you create a Canadian company with the appropriate taxes from UK subscription?

Hi there, Tony.

The option to create a Canadian company with the taxes from UK subscription is unavailable. Each subscriptions are typically tied to a specific country version. You would need to purchase a separate subscription to setup for a new QuickBooks Online Canada account. For this, you can check out our QuickBooks Pricing page.

As a workaround, we can configure a tax settings specific to the Canadian tax system. You can create a unique VAT code and add a custom tax.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to Taxes and select VAT.
  2. Click Add Tax.
  3. Select the Custom tax. Then, Add a tax agency and a tax percentage, such as an environmental levy, hotel, or petrol tax.
  4. Once done, click on Save
