Question

I have access to a client's Quickbooks but this is showing as a separate company when I login, how do I get this client to show on my client list?

I would like this client to show as a client of the accountancy practice rather than a separate company on my login. I also need my colleagues to be able to have access to this client's Quickbooks

Welcome to the Community, @luke-irving.

I can share some insights so you can add your client to your client list and able to update your colleague's access and permission.

Your client has to add you as an accountant user to their QuickBooks Online company. This way, you will see their company in your client list. Your client can follow these steps:

  1. Click the Gear icon on the top right and then select Manage users.
  2. Your client must enter the email address you use to access your firm.
  3. Hit Invite.

  4. Click Text the code.
  5. Enter the code received by the client's phone and press Continue.

Then you will receive the invite to your email. You can go there to accept the invitation and use your Intuit ID. Once you enter the security code, you will see your firm, click it and hit Continue.

Once it shows in your client list, click Go To QuickBooks just beside the Accountant Tools to manage their company.

On the other hand, if you want to edit each colleague's access and permission for a new client, you can follow these few easy steps:

  1. Go to the Team menu.
  2. Select the Access tab.
  3. Find the peer and click Edit from the Action column.
  4. Go to the Firm Administration and Books tab to enable client access in the Manage your clients section.

  5. Then select the Client Access tab to choose the client your peer can access.

  6. Hit Save.
