I have an employee who says the password for his payslip doesn't work. Is there a way to reset it and for him to change it? If not how can I help him access his payslip?

Hi there again, m-toye-books,

I appreciate you getting back to the Community and providing additional information.

If I may ask, have you updated any information about that employee? If yes, then you'll have to send the payslip again to your employee.

Make sure that the employee will enter the following information provided by TaliaI.

However, if you've not updated any information, to further isolate the issue, you can download the payslip via PDF file and check the employee information if it matches the password entered by the employee.

I'd appreciate if you can update me on how it goes. I'm always here to help to ensure that your employee will be able to access his/her payslip.

Hello m-toye-books,

Welcome to the Community, thank you for your question!

The payslip passwords consist of:

  • First 4 letters of the employee’s surname* (lowercase)
  • First 4 characters of the NI number (lowercase). If the NI number is not there, then the employee’s birth year is used instead.

Is the employee entering this correctly?

Thanks,

Talia

I sent him that and he says he is entering that information. No other employee has had a problem accessing theirs.

Thanks foir joining this thread Emily, where an employee with a special character on their last name cannot view their payslip please have them use the first 4 characters of their NI followed by their birth year as their PaySlip Password.

Hello, @Stacey311.

I can help you with resetting your payslip password.

If you're referring to emailed payslips, verify with your employer if the surname and NI number and correctly set up. The password is eight characters, and consists of the following:

  • First 4 letters of the employee’s surname (lowercase).
  • First 4 characters of the NI number (lowercase).

Check out this article for more information about viewing and downloading your payslip: Payslips in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.

If you're referring to QuickBooks Workforce, you can select the I forgot my user ID or password link on the login page and follow the onscreen instructions. See this article for detailed guidance about viewing and downloading your payslips: View and download employee payslips in QuickBooks Workforce.

Let me know how this goes and feel free to post again here if you have further questions resetting your password. I'm always around to help. Have a good one.

Hi I have an employee who also cannot access her payslip. The problem is her surname has 3 letters. How can I go around this please?

July 22, 2022

It's just the 3 letters of the surname then 4 characters of NI number.

(make sure they are using all lower case)
