Question

The sample co 'Events and Catering Ltd' does not allow to save any transaction mentioning the subscription expired. Please advise, since we need the sample co for test.

When a sample company's subscription expires, it's necessary to subscribe to continue using the software, apasatembos. I'd be happy to guide you through the process.

Once you log in to your QuickBooks Online account, you'll get a prompt to resubscribe. If not, please use these steps to reactivate it:

 

  1. Go to the Settings icon.
  2. Choose the Billing and Subscription, then Resubscribe.

  3. Enter the updated billing information in the fields.
  4. Hit the Resubscribe button.

I use QBO as accountant, and I am billed from QBO for clients I registered for QBO. so
 
So the sample company was free and should continue to be provided for free to me in order to advise the clients, i.e. I use to test a treatment in sample company eg refund for sale receipt and then advise the client how to treat these cases in their QBO

Before anything else, may I ask if you have been invited by your clients to their QBO company as an accountant user or have you created a sample company and utilized it to work with your clients? Any additional info would be appreciated as this will help me pinpoint the problem effectively.

 

Meanwhile, if your client has invited you as an accountant user to their QBO account, the free QBO account you received upon registration will remain active as long as it is connected to your client's active subscription. However, if the primary account holder cancels their subscription or their account becomes inactive, your access will be removed. Therefore, it's advisable to confirm the subscription status directly with the primary account holder.

 

On the other hand, if the sample company you're referring to is the free QBO trial, please know that once it expires, you will not be able to save new transactions. Yet, you will retain read-only access to your data for 1 year, unless you renew your subscription or upgrade to a paid plan.

 

If you don't want to renew your free trial to a paid QBO plan, I suggest creating another free QBO trial account using other personal information. Nonetheless, the sample company will still expire. Thus, I recommend exporting the data before the expiration date.

 

Alternatively, you can utilize the QuickBooks test drives for creating transactions. However, there are feature limitations to consider with test drives:

 

  • Bank connection restrictions
  • Smart and advanced reporting
  • Limited file size and users
  • Direct help support
  • Unable to send emails for transactions
