Hi there, @terry.white63. I'm here to share additional information make sure you'll be able to submit your CIS return.

Since you've mentioned that you didn't fill the National insurance number tab, It's possible that the blank NI number caused if from returning your CIS. So, we'll need to make sure all information needed when you submit a CIS return is correct.

I'll show you some on the thing to look and verify before processing your return again.

  • You may be using the wrong login details. Log into the HMRC website to confirm that your Government Gateway user ID and password are correct.
  • Make sure you're using the right 10-digit Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number.
  • Be sure to check if you're using the correct PAYE Reference number.
  • Check that your suppliers have the correct references and CIS setup. Like the following, Accounts Office reference number, Subcontractor UTR number, National Insurance (NI) number, and Verification number
  • Remove any special characters and additional spaces in the subcontractor/contractor name field. Only use letters A-Z and numbers 0-9.

You can refer to this article for more details: How to submit a CIS return in QuickBooks Online.

If issue persists, we can perform the basic browser troubleshooting to improve and speed up your browser's performance. Cookies and caches may prevent you from accessing some features in your account.

Here's how:

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. Log in to your QuickBooks account in an incognito or private browser and try to review the details of your return. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
    Safari: press Command + Shift + N

  3. If it works, you can return to your regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then you can set up your CIS return again and get started on the tasks at hand.

Also, running CIS reports in QuickBooks Online is available and easy. This way, you'll be able to review your contractor monthly statement, payment and deduction statement, and summary of the CIS deductions withheld.

I'll be around if you have any other concerns or  clarification about the processes. Have a good one!
