Tyring to set up MTD and get error message as follows -You do not have the proper permission to access that feature - I Am setting up as a user with full admin ?

Although I have set the accounts up through my accountant log in I have added the client as a user which is where I am trying to set up the MTD

The error message "You do not have the proper permission to access that feature" occurs when the user account lacks the necessary permissions to perform actions within the MTD setup. It happens even if you are logged in as a user with full admin rights, especially if the client has not been correctly authorized in your HMRC agent services account.

 

After adding the client as a user for MTD access to your QBO, it's essential to add all MTD details to your HMRC agent services account. This setup will enable you to act on behalf of your clients when submitting their MTD VAT returns.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Sign in to your agent services account.
  2. Add all your practice's existing Government Gateway details for filing VAT for clients.
  3. Copy across all your client's authorizations.

 

If you have multiple Government Gateway credentials, don't forget to include all of them to link your authority for each client. It's advisable to complete this no less than 72 hours before their VAT return deadline.
