Question

When I try to add a new customer, I’m getting a notification saying there’s a problem with my subscription each time I press Save. I’m paying a subscription.

Hi there. I want to ensure you'll be able to add your customer to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To start, let's verify your subscription status by going to the Billing & Subscription page. Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBO account as a primary admin.
  2. Next, click the Settings icon and select Account and Settings.
  3. Then, select Billing & Subscription.
  4. From there, check if you still have an active subscription.

For reference, check out this article: Manage billing, payment, and subscription info in QuickBooks Online.

If confirmed that you have an active one, we can perform the process of adding your customer by logging in to a private browser. This will provide you with a clean slate to help us determine if this is a browser-related issue.

Below are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

Once signed in, add a customer again and save it. If you're able to do so, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to eliminate the piled-up data. If the same thing happens, I recommend using another supported browser or device.

However, if you still receive the same error, I suggest reaching out to our Phone support team to further investigate it. They can pull up your account in a secure place and check your subscription. They can also provide an additional set of steps to help add the customer.
