Question

I am struggling to complete a bank reconciliation. If transactions are on statement but not in QB, must I add them manually?

Yes. You can add the transactions manually by navigating to the Chart of Accounts, Linda214.

Since the transactions are already shown in your bank statement, you can include them in QuickBooks for reconciliation purposes. Manual entry of transactions can also save time while managing your QuickBooks accounts.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu and select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to review.
  3. Select Account history from the Actions column.
  4. At the top of the list, select the Add journal entry, Add deposit , or Add cheque ▼ dropdown.
  5. Choose the type of transaction you want to add.
  6. Fill out the fields to complete the transaction.
  7. Click Save.

For further details about the process, reference this article: Manually add transactions to accounts in QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can proceed with reconciliation to ensure your bank and credit card statements are always matched. Then, you can generate a reconciliation report as your guidance when reconciling the next month.
