I  fathom the significance of connecting Capitec bank to QuickBooks, @Julie11. I'll assist you in doing some troubleshooting steps so you can resume working with your transactions.

Before proceeding, did you receive any errors when linking your bank account? Please know that any additional information can help me verify if there's an issue related to your financial institution.

In the meantime, let's try connecting your bank using its URL. If you're also unable to locate your bank from the list of supported ones, it's possible that it has been updated. If so, you can send a request for this.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking page.
  2. Enter Capitec Bank in the search box.
  3. Copy and paste the new URL in the Bank web address (URL) field.
  4. Hit Request.

If your bank is still nowhere to be found, you can try other listed versions of your bank's name. For the complete steps, follow this article: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

You'll want to consider manually uploading transactions into the program. Just make sure to review the file format and size to avoid any issues.

When everything is all set, you might want to review these handy resources to organise your transactions seamlessly:

You can always reach back out if you have other questions or concerns besides linking your online banking. I'm happy to lend a helping hand. Take care.

Hello JamaicaA

Thanks for your reply. The error code is 192. My bank is listed but says specifically business banking. I don’t have a business account.

I made the error of trying to create a new bank category called capitec

Old account or “bank category” is cash and cash equivalents. My entries to the old account which i called cash and cash equivalents are now not linked to any transactions i previously had them linked to they are all in accounts receivable not in their categories.

How do i transfer back to the old bank category with all the information back in the correct category.

Why did the new bank category not create a new unpopulated account but instead it took all the information from the previous category and moved it as if it has just been added and never assigned.

Thank you for adding a screenshot, Julie.

It isn't the kind of experience we want you to come across.

Currently, we have an ongoing issue with connecting Capitec Bank and receiving error 192. For the moment, kindly use the Import CSV Feature as a workaround.

I'll walk you through the steps. Before doing so, you'll have to format the CSV file. When your file is formatted correctly, you can follow these steps to upload your transactions into your QuickBooks account:

  1. From the Banking tab, select Banking.
  2. Click Upload transactions.
  3. Hit Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the account you want to upload the transactions on the QuickBooks account drop-down.
  6. Click Continue.

Also, I'd recommend reaching out to our phone support team so you'll be added as one of the affected users. You can contact them through the ? Help menu.

Once your transactions are in your QuickBooks account, you can categorise to put them in the correct accounts. I've added this link for the detailed steps of the process: Categorise transactions.

We appreciate your patience while we're working to resolve this issue the soonest.

My Captitec savings account also used to work and now just gives an error 192.

Did anyone have any luck yet resolving this?

Downloading transactions manually is just not a viable option, to be honest.
