Hello there, @Buck Tsai.

I'm here to ensure you're able to connect to your bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO). This way, you can download your transactions and keep your account updated.

Before we start, can you share the error message you encountered while connecting the Standard Bank to QuickBooks? Any further info would be appreciated.

Here are some of the possible reasons you're having trouble connecting your bank account to QBO:

  • The bank is performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications from their website that need your attention.

To start, I'd first suggest logging into your bank's website to review if there are alerts that need your attention. Once signed in, perform the following steps:

  1. Review your account page for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  2. Check your bank’s website for any announcements.
  3. Once done, go back to your QBO account to perform manual update.

Manually updating your account helps refresh the connection between your bank and QBO. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select Update
  3. Enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials.
  4. Click Continue update.

On the other hand, if you make changes to your bank's website, you'll have to update your bank info in QBO as well to match their account details. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Select the blue tile for your bank.
  3. Click the Edit (Pencil) icon.
  4. Choose Edit sign-in info
  5. Update your details.

Once your transactions are successfully downloaded, you can now approve the way the program categorizes them. Then, match them against the entries in the system. To learn more about this process, visit this article: Categorise and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Just tag my name in the comment section if you have any other concerns or questions. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Stay safe.

Hi, @Buck Tsai.

I appreciate you for sharing the screenshot of the error message you've received. I'm here to share with you the resolution to isolate this banking error.

Usually, error 103 occurs when credentials entered into QuickBooks Online don’t match with what your financial institution has. As an initial step, you can do the following:

  • Make sure to input the correct credentials while trying to connect to your financial institution for the first time.
  • Select the right financial institution (there are often many to select from).
  • If you are currently connected and updated your credentials with your financial institution, you need to update the information in QuickBooks Online.

Here's how you can review your sign-in information:

  1. Open a new window in your web browser and go directly to your bank’s website.
  2. Make a note of the web address (such as https://www.bank.com). This may come in handy later.
  3. Sign in with the user ID and password you have. If you have separate accounts with the bank (such as a business account and a personal account), sign in to the account you want to fix in QuickBooks.
  4. If you sign in successfully, then you know the user ID and password are correct. If you get a sign-in error, follow your bank’s instructions to get your user ID, reset your password, or both.

Once done, you're now ready to sign in to your bank account in QuickBooks.

  1. Click on Banking at the left pane, then select the bank or credit card account you need to update.
  2. Hit Edit.
  3. Select Edit sign-in info.
  4. If your web browser auto-fills the user ID and password fields, clear them. This ensures your browser doesn’t put in old info by mistake.
  5. Manually type in the user ID and password for your bank account. If your bank offers a Show option, select it so you can confirm you entered the password correctly.
  6. Tap Update.
