Balance issues

Hi, I am starting a new year’s accounts but the starting balance/ending balance reconciled from the last year is wrong and so when I go to reconcile the first month in the new year it says balance is off and I have discrepancies from the previous year. In the discrepancies a couple of them are saying ‘deleted’ so as it says I have re entered the amount in expenses but now can’t find them anywhere !! Please help as to what to do !!!

Nice to meet you, @Jt72. I'll be happy to help fix your concern so you can proceed with reconciling your account in  QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Since you've  finished recreating the deleted item, you can review the expense transaction and check where account you put it or you can open the Audit log to get the details of that transaction. Once, you know where, you can go to your account register to manually reconcile the transaction. 

Let me guide you how:
 

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Look for the account where the transaction is allocated. Then, select View register.
  3. Select the transaction to expand the view.
  4. Under the check column, continuously click the box until you see R (reconciled).
  5. Then, select Save.

The amounts are all from last year’s reconciled accounts and even though I have re entered them as expenses they are still showing in the discrepancy report and saying amounts not matching to be reconciled

Let's make sure the dates of your re-entered transactions are correct so they'll be removed in the discrepancy report and reconcile your accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

You can go back to the Chart of Accounts page and re-open your account's register. From there, double-check the date of your re-entered transactions and make corrections if necessary.

 

Once you're done, manually reconcile all your re-entered transactions (as directed by my colleague above). Please see the screenshot below for your reference. Then, resume reconciling your account.

 

 

Moreover, in case the discrepancy continues, I'd recommend consulting your accountant. They have special ways to fix your reconciliation and keep your financial data accurate.
