In the last couple of weeks the connection to my bank, First Direct appears to be broken - despite putting the info asked for, it still comes up with an error. Do I have to contact the bank to get this fixed?

Hey hjd,

We'll help you fix that here, please do not contact your bank. What is the specific error or message you receive?

When connecting via QuickBooks, are you prompted to enter a 6-digit secure key?

Thanks

Hi
When I go to bank accounts the message is:We're having temporary problems accessing your account. Please wait a few hours and reconnect.
I've tried reconnecting a few times and the message that appears is asking me first to answer a security question, then 'enter your security code'.  The information I am inputting doesn't appear to work. And the next message is: that wasn't quite right. Try again. Your bank might ask the same question or ask a different one, or skip asking one for now. (187).
Please advise.

Hello Helen,

The error is triggered by the added security feature implemented by your bank. Currently, we can have seamless bank feed updates for bank connections which only require username and passwords. If the bank implements another layer of protection like passcodes or 2-factor authentications, you'll need to enter them every time QuickBooks tries to download an update. By the way, QuickBooks downloads transactions nightly.

In a setup like yours, you can click the Update button when you want to download new transactions from your bank. Then, enter your security code when prompted. Another option is to download your transactions from your bank's website in a supported web connect format. Then, upload them to the Banking feeds. You can do this on a weekly basis.

Please let me know if you have other questions in mind.
