Hi dazstrawbridge-h, thanks for joining the QB Community 🙂 - we don't currently have any reported issues linking Natwest banks accounts, meaning you can connect this successfully. Accounts can be connected by clicking 'link account' and following the on-screen instructions from the banking screen (Take me there).

I can never seem to reconnect my NatWest account. It's incredibly frustrating. I try to reconnect via the app, then via the full QuickBooks website, as suggested. Both times, I come through to NatWest, confirm connection and then I get sent back to QB and told there's been an error. I'm just going to have to disregard all NatWest bank activity at this point!

Hello there, @Ben Savin.

I'll help you connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online.

Before doing so, I would like to ask the error message you're getting in reconnecting NatWest bank. This way, I can check if there are reports for that specific error.

When connecting your bank, make sure to take note of the following:

  • Correct bank name. It's helpful to verify the name of the bank from the list, as there are some banks that have multiple names.
  • The bank might not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs. business accounts).
  • The bank is supported in QBO.

All you need to know about connecting bank account in QBO can be found in this article: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking.

If the above-mentioned were verified, but you're still unable to connect your bank, I recommend reaching out to your financial institution, as they may be having system maintenance.

You can then go back to QuickBooks and try adding your bank account again.

Here's how:

  1. Select Banking from the left menu.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Search your bank or use the correct URL when logging in to your bank's website.
  4. Enter your bank's username and password.
  5. Select the type of account.
  6. Choose how far back you want to download bank transactions.
  7. Click Connect.
  8.

You can also read this article for the detailed steps to connect your bank accounts in QBO: Connect and add bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

As a workaround, here's an article that you might find helpful to upload transactions manually in QuickBooks Online: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

For future reference, here's an article you can read when categorizing your downloaded transactions: Categorise and match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have other concerns with your bank connection. I'll be around to help. Have a great day.
