Question

Can I import stock items to specific locations?

I have 100s of stock items across multiple locations. I can see how to import them from an excel spreadsheet, but it doesn't seem to have a location field. I really do not want to edit each item to add the location. Any clues?

Hello there, Martyn.

Currently, we're unable to import stock items into QuickBooks Online (QBO) to specific locations. You'll need to manually edit each item once you've successfully uploaded them into the program.

Before doing so, ensure to enable location tracking in your account. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Categories section, turn on Track locations.
  4. Click Save, then Done.

For more information, please refer to this article: Set up and use location tracking in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can run reports in QBO to track items classified into locations.

Keep in touch if you need further assistance with importing items into QBO. We're always available to assist you. Stay safe.

You need to have a 3rd party inventory management app with multiwarehouse feature to integrate with QBO.
