Hello there, @contact-skelmers.

You can make your accounts inactive. When the account is inactive, it gets removed from the Chart of Accounts, and other places where you can choose accounts.

If the account contains transactions, they remain part of your company data. You can find them through reports.

To delete the account successfully, you may need to make it inactive:

  1. Click Accounting on the left panel and select Chart of Accounts tab.
  2. Locate the account that you want to make inactive.
  3. Under the Action column, click the drop-down arrow next to View Register and select Make inactive.
  4. Select Yes to confirm.

Here’s an article on how to delete and restore an account for more detailed information. This provides directions to access the accounts if you need them for any future concerns.

Also, there are some accounts in your book that we cannot make inactive. These are special accounts that cannot be deleted nor inactivated. They play an important role in your book.

Check out here to know more about it: Manage default and special accounts in your chart of accounts.
