delete an bank account with transactions

I'm totally new to this and really struggling to get this up and running!

I got so confused with what I was trying to acheive  that I decided to delete the bank account and thought I could just re-upload the information again and start  from scratch. However, some payments are directing me to the old deleted bank account which is in the Chart of accounts /Retained profit balance forward account /Equity /Opening Balance Equity/ and has an opening balance. I need to completely remove the deleted bank account  so that it only links to the new bank information. 

 

Please, can anyone help?

    Hi blott,

     

    Thank you for contacting the Community.

     

    To remove the balance from the inactive account you will have to remove all transactions posting to that chart of account. To do this click the Accounting tab and then Chart of Accounts. On the right hand side of the screen click the Gear icon next to the printer and tick Include Inactive. You will now be able to click Account History on the relevant chart of account and see all of the transactions posting to that account. if you open each transaction you can either delete it by clicking More at the bottom of the screen and then delete, or change the Deposit To field to another chart of account.

     

    Once you have done this and there are no transactions showing for this chart of account there will be no balance and you can make the account inactive again by click the arrow next to Account History and then Delete.
