I forgot to mention - when I export the transactions from HSBC as a csv file or the other format ie OFX, and I try to Import them into QBooks, it states wrong format for both files.
I cant import anything.

I will upload the images here showing my accounts connected but not updating.

I've checked the screenshots you've provided, Specialistsupple. I'll help you download the bank transactions

Although, I'd like to know more about this. Did you encounter any specific error messages? This way, I can check if there's an on-going investigation about HSBC bank.

In the meantime, we can try to update the bank account in QuickBooks Online. This is to refresh the connection between our program and your bank. Here's how:

  1. Click Banking, then go to the Banking tab.
  2. Select the account, then click the Update button.

I'll add an article on what you can do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error

Regarding the CSV file error, it occurs if the file format isn't compatible with our program. I'll share the formatting restrictions:

  • 0's are not allowed anywhere in the file, e.g $0 should be left blank
  • $ symbols are not allowed, e.g $500 should be 500
  • Commas for thousands are not allowed, e.g 3,456 should be 3456
  • Correct any transactions with the amount showing in the description column
  • Other special characters such as #, %, and & are not allowed.
  • Remove the word “amount" if it appears in the credit or debit column
  • Correct and standardize the date format to a single format i.e. dd/mm/yyyy

Let's ensure the file format is correct, so you can import the transactions using Excel CSV files.

Please keep in touch if you need more help with this. You can also tag me and I'll personally reply to you.

I just cant get the bank feed to pull in transactions from HSBC and think the best option is to disconnect all my bank account feeds and start again.

Can someone please send me a link to a page instructing how I receive the code from QBooks which has to be added into the HSBC bank feed setup page.

Hi specialistsupple,

The code requested relates to a OTP code - these are usually generated from a mobile or hand-held pincentry device.

Do you use either of there when logging into your online bank directly through their website?

Thanks
