I can share with you the rationale why there are always bank connection issues, @nigelspencepubli.

But before that, may I know the name of your bank? This way, I can further verify if there's an ongoing investigation related to your concern.

In most cases, bank connection issues happen when:

  • The bank is performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications from their website that need your attention.
  • They may have implemented changes to their service offerings, Web Connect or Direct Connect.
  • An update on your bank’s information such as the name, account number, and login credentials requires you to refresh it in QuickBooks.
  • You may have an Inactive Bank Account enabled for Online Banking in QuickBooks.

To fix this, let’s run a manual update to ensure your bank transactions are up-to-date. This process will restore the bank connection and will trigger modification to your bank transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBSE account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon.
  3. Select your Bank Account.
  4. Click Refresh On

Then sign in to your bank’s website to check if there is a notice that needs your attention. Then, perform the necessary action if there's any and go back to QuickBooks to connect your account.

If the issue persists, you can also connect your account using a private window. This way, we can determine if this a browser-related issue. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Shift N

If it works successfully, you'd want to clear your regular browser's cache to prevent any unexpected behavior. Also, you can use other compatible browsers in QBSE.

Once resolved, we can proceed to the Transactions tab to create and use rules to quickly classify recent and past transactions. To learn more about this process, visit this article: Categorizing Transactions

Keep in touch if you have other banking concerns in QuickBooks. I'll be around to help you. Have a wonderful day.
