I'm here to help you import your bank transactions, gregboulton.

When importing CSV files in QuickBooks Self-employed, you'll have to ensure the transactions are in the correct format. Otherwise, the program will not be able to read the data. Here are the few things you need to remember before proceeding:

  • Remove zeroes from the file and leave those cells blank.
  • Select the column header labels that match the column header labels in your CSV file.
  • The file should contain the following information: Date, Description, and Amount.

For more information about formatting restrictions, I suggest checking out this article: Import Bank Transactions using Excel CSV Files.

Once everything is all set, I recommend following these steps to import the transactions:

  1. Go to the Transactions tab.
  2. Click the drop-down menu next to Add transaction.
  3. Select Import transactions and make sure it's the same account where you downloaded the data.
  4. Choose Import older transactions under the Action column.
  5. Click the Browse button and then locate the file you've exported above.
  6. Select Include all transactions and then review your transactions.
  7. Click the Continue button.
  8. Select OK then Done.

Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you review your downloaded transactions to ensure they're in the correct category: Categorise Transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I encourage letting us know if you need help in managing your bank transactions. Our assistance will be posted right away.
