Thanks for joining this online banking connection, Emma.

I want to make sure you're able to connect your Santander account in your QuickBooks company file. For this,

  1. Click on the Banking menu.
  2. Choose Link account from the landing page.
  3. Search for the bank URL or type in "Santander". The result will display all available connections for Santander. See this:
  4. Complete the necessary steps to authorise QuickBooks to connect to your bank account. Once you authorise the connection, you’ll be redirected back to QuickBooks.
  5. Pick  the bank accounts you want to connect, and which accounts they will link to in QuickBooks.
  6. Press Connect when done.

If you still can't find the bank, try opening your account in a private browser. Unexpected issues in QuickBooks are sometimes affected by the amount of data stored in the cache. This is because a regular browser will constantly overwrite itself and will not remove history unless done manually.

Private browsing will not save any history, so it's a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Once you open a private browser, log in to your QBO account and try to connect your account from there.

Feel free to post here in the QuickBooks Support page again if you need anything else with QuickBooks banking. I'll be right here to help you anytime. Have a lovely week!

Hi mwtreeservices-o, thanks for joining us on the Community

We'd like to help you get this set up - can we check if you're selecting the link for Santander and Cahoot (UK), and if you see your account listed as an available account when re-directed to the banks site during the connection process? 👩‍💻

It only offers me Santander and Cahoot I think that's the problem, then it just says "oops something happened" i have watched the video and followed all the steps about 8 times.

Hi there, AJR3. I'll gladly assist you in connecting your bank to QBO.

There are several reasons why your bank may not be connecting to online banking in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Below, I'll outline these reasons and guide you through the appropriate steps to find and connect to the correct bank. If you're still unable to link your bank, it’s likely due to one of the following issues:

  • We have multiple names from your bank on our list. Double-check that you've selected the correct listing or tried all possible connections. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure the proper listing.
  • Your bank doesn't provide access to all sorts of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs. business accounts).
  • Your bank is undergoing system maintenance.
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

I recommend contacting your bank to verify any maintenance updates or requests related to connecting to QuickBooks Online (QBO). If everything checks out, please make sure to use the correct bank name when linking your account.

Additionally, you can import transactions into QuickBooks Online (QBO) if your bank supports specific file formats (QFX, QBO, CSV, and OFX). For detailed instructions and guidelines, please refer to this article: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
