It's great to have you today, @Simongrafton.

I can definitely help you with processing a credit note in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We can create a credit note by following the steps below:

  1. Click the + New button, then select Credit note.
  2. In the Customer dropdown, select the customer's name.
  3. Enter the credit note details, such as the date and the amount. You can create a custom credit service item and use it as a single line item on credit notes.
  4. Once done, select Save and close.

After that, we can apply the credit note to an invoice. Here's how:

  1. Click the + New button, then choose Receive payment.
  2. Select the customer in the Customer dropdown.
  3. Pick the open invoice you want to apply the credit note to in the Outstanding Transactions section.
  4. In the Credits section, select the credit notes you want to apply.
  5. In the Payment field for the open invoice, enter the amount of credit you want to apply.
  6. Leave the Payment methodReference noDeposit to, and Amount received fields blank.
  7. Complete the remaining fields, including the Payment date.
  8. Make sure the total is correct after applying the credit note.
  9. Select Save and Close when you're finished.

For more details about the process, please see this article: Create and apply credit notes or delayed credits.

You can also personalise the appearance by adding specific info to your sales forms. Check out this article for more information: Customise invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.

Please let me know how it goes after performing the steps above. I'm just a post away if you have any other concerns besides issuing a credit note in QBO. Take care!
