EG. Open credit card in June, spent on it and paid them off, the paid transaction is in my current account on QB, but as its been paid, when i match it to a credit card transfer, it gives me a minus on the credit card account as ive added them and reconciled on the 31st July, its pulled all transactions from the credit card from when it was opened at the start of June

Hello @psellick8,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'm here to help you match credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online.

When you first connect your credit card, some banks let you download the last 90 days of transactions. Others can go back as far as 24 months.

The balance on the credit card will show as negative as this is a liability account showing what you owed. For those transactions you don't need to match (reconciled 31st July), I recommend excluding them from the account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the For review tab.
  2. Select the checkbox for each transaction you want to exclude.
  3. Hit Exclude.

If you've already matched or added a transaction and want to reverse the action, you still can through the Banking section. There's an option to undo the process so you can exclude them.

Also, QuickBooks allows you to record credit card payments in multiple ways to keep track of your expenses and maintain accurate financial reports. To ensure you're recording the payments correctly and to learn more about the options available, check out this link: Record your payments to credit cards.

I've attached an article you can use to automatically categorise transactions from your bank in QuickBooks: Set up bank rules to categorise online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Drop me a comment below if you need more assistance using bank feeds or managing transactions. The Community and I will be here to help you. Have a great day.
