How do I reconcile the bank so the bank and quickbooks totals match

Hi dougfarleighkitc, we've got a handy step-by-step guide that covers how to reconcile an account which should help you to get the balances matching. If this is your first reconcile, you'll want to check that you've recorded the opening balance (the balance of your real-life bank account for the day you decided to start tracking transactions in QuickBooks). As this is an opening balance, this should be the first entry on the account and you can view this by navigating to the Cog > Chart of Accounts > Select account history > Click the date heading to order the transactions from earliest > oldest. The OB should appear here and should be reconciled (you can reconcile this by clicking the ✔️box to change the status to 'R').
