Question

How to connect American Express UK credit card?

I've just signed up for QuickBooks and am trying to import my Amex transactions. I couldn't see a UK option, so chose the US option, which worked, except it imported all the transactions as dollars rather than sterling.

Where do I find the option to change the currency for the account or is there an Amex UK option? I can't find one in the list of banks to connect to.

Hi tobya,

Currently AMEX is not supported on a direct connection to QuickBooks, though we are working closely with the bank to have this implemented in the coming months.

You can keep your eyes on our Community article linked here which will be updated as soon as the connection is available.

In the meantime, you can create your bank as a chart of account and update this using CSV imports - this will allow you to use the banking feature without a live connection.

Please disconnect the US account as there is no way to convert these transaction amounts to show as GBP.

Get back to us below if you have any questions on this,

Thanks!

Thanks but this is not a complete solution as Amex only allow you to download three months of transactions as a CSV. When will an Open Banking connection be available?

Hi there, tobya.

For now, we're unable to give a specific time frame is when the Open Banking connection will be available.

As mentioned by my colleague above, you can always refer to this article:Understanding if you can upgrade your bank feeds to Open Banking. This provides information about the updates for bank connection.

Once the connection of your bank will available, please refer to this article to see detailed steps on how to connect your bank, card, and even your PayPal accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed: Connect bank and card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know if you have other questions related to QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.
