Hi there, @kgar

The beginning balance is calculated based on the account's initial balance (Unreconciled Accounts) or the total amount of all reconciled transactions (Previously-reconciled accounts). To reconcile an account accurately, the beginning balance in QuickBooks Online has to match the beginning balance on your bank statement.

Meanwhile, it's possible to create a transfer after reconciling your credit card. Let me show you how.

Here's how to reconcile your credit card transactions:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Reconcile.
  2. If you're reconciling for the first time, select Get Started first, then Let's do it.
  3. From the Account drop-down menu, select the credit card account.
  4. Fill out the Reconcile details based on your bank statement.
  5. Click Start reconciling.
  6. In the Reconcile screen, select the checkbox next to the transactions that match the transactions on your statement and mark it as cleared.
  7. Select Finish now, then hit Done.

After that, refer to the following steps on how to pay your bills:

  1. On the left pane, select + New.
  2. Under OTHER, select Transfer.
  3. From the Transfer Funds From drop-down, select the bank account the credit card was paid from.
  4. Click the Transfer Funds To drop-down menu, then select the credit card that the payment went to.
  5. In the Transfer Amount field, enter the amount of the payment.
  6. Check the date.
  7. Hit Save and close.

Additionally, I also recommend consulting your accountant to guide you with reconciling your credit card transactions and ensure your books are correct.

I've attached some articles below which you can use as a reference, to reconcile accounts, like best practices for reconciliations and how to settle accounts that are or aren't connected to online banking. Also, you can use the second link to track credit card payments:
