I have been trying renew the connection to my HSBC bank and for a few weeks now it has been saying "We are not able to connect with HSBC Bank (UK) - Personal Banking right now! Please try again later."

I have renewed the connection many times in the past with no issue but I have been getting the same error message now for a few weeks!

Hi there, Emily Fullard.

I appreciate you trying to connect your HSBC bank to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). There are a few reasons why you could be seeing this message. And, I'm here to help you fix it.

The message could be coming from HSBC's website. Any messages can block the connection to QuickBooks. Here are the things you can perform.

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website.
  2. These should be the same credentials you use to connect the account to QuickBooks.
  3. Check for any updates, messages, or notifications.
  4. If you need to take any action, the message should give you specific steps.

If you don't see notifications when you sign in, you may need to turn off your web browser's pop-up blocker. Then, go back to QBSE and refresh the connection.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Select the profile ⚙ icon and then Bank accounts.
  3. Click Refresh all.

If you're still getting the message, I'll let you try connecting again your account after 24 hours. And, if the same issue persists, please contact our QuickBooks Self-Employed Live Team. They can create a case under your company and forward it to our Online Banking Team for further investigation.

When you're HSBC account is connected and transactions are finally downloaded, you can start categorising those transactions.

Let me know if you need anything else. I'll be right here whenever you have follow-up questions about connecting your bank to QBSE.
