I’m more than happy to help you, @gail.frost.

Allow me to share some insights about bank balance in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When connecting your bank account to QBO, this downloads the transactions and creates an opening balance. The amount is based on your bank account. Thus, it causes an incorrect balance in QBO.

To get around this issue, you can edit or delete this entry in your Chart of Accounts. Let me guide you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Chart of accounts.
  3. Locate and select the account, then click Account history under Action.
  4. Find the opening balance and delete or edit it.
  5. Ensure to enter a zero amount to fix the opening balance when editing it.
  6. Once done, click Save and close.
