Question

I can’t connect my bank account. Once I get to my bank pop up and verify the connection, I get returned to a blank page. Any ideas?

Hello there, matthew.

Let's perform troubleshooting steps so you can connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online smoothly.

First off, may I know which bank you're using and having trouble with? I appreciate any further details so I can provide the exact information to link your financial institution to the program.

For now, I suggest connecting your bank account through a private window to narrow down the result and protect your browser against cookie-based tracking. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts to save you time:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: press Shift + CTRL + P

If the steps above don't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

In case you need steps on how to review your downloaded entries by matching or adding them to avoid duplicate data, you can read this article: Categorise and match bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you need any additional assistance while connecting or managing your bank in QBO, you can leave a comment below. I'll get back to you, matthew. Have a good one!

Hi

ive tried using a private browser and using a different device altogether but as soon as I’ve verified the connection with Starling bank i get taken back to an authorisation page with just says E at the top of the page. I don’t seem to be able to move any further ahead.

thanks

Matt

We value the time and effort in resolving this matter, matthewevansgard. Let me direct you to the appropriate support team who can help reestablish your bank feeds connection.

When faced with a situation like this one, I recommend contacting your Financial Institution (FI) to see if they're experiencing any maintenance issues. If everything is working fine on their side, reach out to our QuickBooks Online Care (QBO) Team for further investigation.

Our specialists have the tools needed to determine why you're unable to link your Starling account to QBO. They'll also guide you on how to implement the permanent fix when it's ready.

To obtain the support details:

  1. Head to the Help icon at the top to display the Search window in your company.
  2. From there, click the Contact Us link to access the What can we help you with? section and then enter a brief description of your concern in the field box.
  3. Tap the Continue button to see the list of support options.
  4. Select Start a chat to initiate a conversation or Call us to speak with an agent.

Refer to this article to learn the best time to get in touch with our QBO Care Team: Contact Support.

Once you've successfully linked the account, categorise and match the downloaded data to maintain well-organized records and a smooth reconciliation process.
