Hi there, @Dave Woods.

There's a great chance that HSBC bank is having an update or maintenance. Thus, you're unable to connect your account to your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). I recommend contacting then to verify any changes.

In the meantime, you'll want to upload your bank transactions to your QBSE account. Let me guide you how.

  1. Sign in to your HSBC bank website.
  2. Follow your bank's instructions on how to download your transaction as a CSV file.
  3. Once done, go to the Gear icon in your QBSE.
  4. Click Import.
  5. Select an account you want to add the transactions.
  6. Click Browse and find the file downloaded from your bank.
  7. Select Open to start the Import.
  8. Review the columns and click Continue to complete the process.

I got you this article for more details in importing your transaction: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Once done, you can now add rules to the transactions to quickly categorize it in your QBSE.

Do get back to me if you have any other concerns. I'll be around to back you up. Take care and keep safe!
