I'm here to share additional information, @ruth13.
Once you disconnect an account, it will still be listed in your chart of accounts. However, you'll no longer see it in the list of connected accounts on the Banking page. You need to worry, you can still upload your credit card transactions into it. I can guide you on how to do it.
Let's first view your chart of account list to make sure that the disconnected account is listed in there. Here's how:
- Go to the Accounting menu.
- Choose the Chart of Accounts tab.
- Enter the name of your AMEX credit card on the search box beside the Batch Actions drop-down.
- Once you've located the account, click the Account History link from the Action column.
- Review the list of transactions listed on the account.
Once completed and verified, you can now start uploading your transactions.
- Go to the Gear icon.
- Choose Import Data
- Select the Bank Data option.
- Click the Browse button.
- Locate your downloaded bank transactions then click Next.
- From the Select an account page, click the QuickBooks Account drop-down.
- Click the Next button.
- Map the columns of the uploaded file with QuickBooks Online fields then click Next.
- Review the list of transactions to be imported then click Next.
- Click the Yes button to complete the process.
You can now start reviewing and categorizing your list of manually uploaded AMEX transactions. Just go to the Banking page, your transactions are displayed in the For Review tab. You can read through this article for more detailed instructions about the process: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
