Question

I made payments from the bank account. I updated the bank account on QB. It shows the correct bank balance but didn't import the transactions. How can I import them?

It's great to see you here today, @alessia-longhi

You're on the right track in updating the bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Since the update doesn't work, it could be the bank is performing system maintenance, or any notifications you'll need to verify.

To help fix this, I'd first suggest signing in to your bank's website to check if there are alerts that need your attention, such as new security requirements. When everything looks good, go back to the Banking menu. Then, select the blue tile for the account and click Update.

If you make changes on your bank's website, you'll have to update your bank info in the system. Here's how:

  1. Choose the blue tile for the bank account again.
  2. Click the Edit (Pencil) icon.
  3. Select Edit sign-in info.
  4. Update your info.

For detailed instructions, see the Step 2: Check your bank's website section through this article: What To Do If Bank Transactions Won't Download or There's A Bank Error

However, if the steps above don't make any difference, I'd suggest manually uploading the transactions into QBO. This lets you import the missing transactions to the program. In case there are duplicates, you'll have to exclude them in the For Review tab. This way, they won't add to your register.

Once downloaded, all you have to do is approve the way QuickBooks categorises the transactions. Also, you can match them to the existing entries in the software. For more details, visit this article: Assign, Categorise, Edit, and Add Your Downloaded Banking Transactions

I just want to make sure this issue will be taken care of. With this, I appreciate if you can share with me the financial institution you're trying to update in QBO. Also, did you receive any specific error message? This will help me provide an accurate resolution to fix this. You can click the Reply button below to add some details.

Please know that I'm here to lend you a helping hand if you need anything else. Take care always, @alessia-longhi
