I'd be delighted to help you delete a bank account, @sally39.

First, you would want to disconnect your bank account if it is connected with the online banking feature. This is to stop downloading new transactions. I'll guide you how:

  1. From the left menu, select Transactions.
  2. Once on the Transactions tab, select the Bank Account you want to delete.
  3. Select the Pencil on the top right of the Account.
  4. Select Edit Account Info.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and tick the Disconnect this Account on Save box.
  6. Select Save and Close.

Then, you can now make the account inactive. Please note that QBO won't completely delete an account. This is to ensure that your transactions are intact when you need them.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon ⚙, then select Chart of accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to delete.
  3. Use the Action ▼ drop-down and click Make Inactive.

Once done, you can't see the account from menus and your chart of accounts.

Also, I recommend matching, assigning, and categorizing your transactions to the existing entries in the software. Just go to the For Review tab from the Banking menu. Doing so will help you ensure the accuracy of your financial records.
