Question

I would like to import my mileage data from MileIQ into Quickbooks. However, the export as CSV is no longer available in MileIQ. How do I get around this?

There is an option for XLS or PDF.  I tried the XLS in the hope that I could convert this to CSV, but it includes a lot of header and summary information.

As a workaround, you can try downloading the CSV file from QuickBooks to get the correct format (from the Mileage tab, select the drop-down menu > Download trips). 

 

Open the downloaded file and over-write (copy & paste) with the trip data from MileIQ. After saving, use the Import trips option to upload in QB.

    I gave that a try, but it failed.

     

    Should I be filling in each of the fields in the exported Quickbooks csv?  Or are there any I should leave blank (Logging Method etc).

     

    Also could it be because the Business Purpose may be different from the options currently shown in the drop down box, or would they automatically update the dropdown options?

     

    FOr instance, this is the top line of the csv file I am exporting.  I have changed the client's name in the start/end address fields:

    Hello Graham24, did you download the trips to see what the format was so it was the same for when you try to import them in?

    As another option, you can convert the MileIQ file to CSV. To do this, you can use an online converter or app. Once converted, you can import it to QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can look for relevant apps directly within QBO. Here's how:

     

    1. Go to the Apps menu.
    2. Select the Find apps tab.
    3. Type any keyword in the search bar or click the Browse category dropdown menu to explore different apps.

     

    Before importing, you can compare the format accepted by QBO to the converted file. This ensures that the file is uploaded successfully. 

     

    Alternatively, you can manually add your trips using the following steps:

     

    1. Go to the Expenses menu and then select Mileage.
    2. Choose Add trip.
    3. Enter the trip date, starting and ending locations, distance, and purpose.
    4. Choose the vehicle you used.
    5. Click Save.

     

    Moreover, you can choose to set up your vehicles and let QBO track your mileage automatically.

    Hi

     

    I had converted the XLS file to CSV in Excel. But the file still would not import (even with all of the extra date and columns removed.

     

    As shown in my post above, the MileIQ data I am trying to import matches the format in the Quickbooks csv file.

     

    I have three years worth of MileIQ data that I would like to import into Quickbooks, so manual entry unfortunately isn't an option.

     

    Please advise if this is at all possible
