thamks, there are no errors in connecting my bank, my issue is that the time of register creation 2007 and connecting bank to qbo 2022 is 14 years worth of difference. i need to bring qbo into line with actual bank balance

Hello Michael, Thanks for the clarification. In order to bring QBO in line with the bank balance if there are 14 years of difference but you want to correct that for the current financial year so your balance sheet shows correctly it would be a case of doing a journal entry to amend the bank balance to what it should be in QB however you would then need to offset that change against another chart of account. We'd advise confirming with an accountant the best way to show this. As the difference is so large and we do see you do not want to go over 14 years' worth of data. The alternative would be starting from the current financial year and your accountant closing the previous financial year.

Let me help you sort this out, Michael Hunter.

There are several reasons why QuickBooks may not recognize a match:

  • The transaction is older than 180 days.
  • The dollar amount in QuickBooks is different than what cleared the bank.
  • The transaction type is different in QuickBooks than at the bank. QuickBooks wants to match a check with a check and an expense with an ACH or debit/credit card swipe.
  • The transaction was recorded in a different bank account.
  • The transaction from the bank is a payment/ deposit of two or more open transactions in QuickBooks.

In addition, here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can categorize and match your downloaded transactions:  Download, Match, and Categorize your Bank Transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know how it goes in the comment section down below. I'd be always around ready to lend a helping hand.

Thank you for the reply, however i am unsure if this is correct in my case.

my quickbooks started in 2007 and when i receive payments i deposit them into my bank account on the software, so for 14 years quickbooks has seen money going into my bank but nothing out as i never used it for this purpose.

now in 2022 i have connected my bank and there is a difference of £700,000.00 between my actual bank and quickbooks account
