Quickbooks Bank Sync Error

When I was recently getting our business taxes together I noticed that our Quickbooks account hadn't synced with our bank since 12/15/23. I keep getting the error message - "Sorry, we can't update your account. Please wait a few hours and try updating again (9999)." The only help I can find says to wait 48 hours and try again. But obviously, that hasn't worked. I appreciate your help! Thanks!

Making sure you'll able to download your transactions in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account is essential to keep your balance accurate, @Ck27paws.

To start, may I know the name of the bank you're having issues with? This is helpful so I can further check the cause of the error. In the meantime, I suggest logging in to your bank's website to verify if there are any notifications or alerts that need immediate action. This might be the reason you're unable to get bank transactions. 

 

If confirmed there are no issues on your bank's end, we can perform the manual update to force download those missing transactions. Here's how:

 

  1. Navigate to the Transactions menu and select Bank transactions.
  2. From there, locate the bank account you're having issues with.
  3. Next, select the Update button.

On the other hand, if this is the first time you connect the bank with QBO, please know that some banks only download the last 90 days of the transactions. That said, you'll have to manually import them into the program.

We use Chase bank and they aren't currently having issues. Using the update button doesn't work at all. I just get the same error message over and over. I was able to download a file of transactions and upload them into Quickbooks but obviously I'd prefer to have it updated automatically. I've also read the page you linked below and it didn't help. I may need to call phone support. Now to find the number! Thank you!
