QuickBooks Desktop is being discontinued on 30 June 2023. Will I still be able to use my QuickBooks Desktop after that date?

You have a one time license, correct? There are still conflicting explanations on this matter. Be sure to secure backup files and portable files by June 30th. If you are unable to run the program later, you can purchase a third-party service to convert your data to QB Online or another program.

Hello johnwhetstone, thanks for posting on the Community.

Access to QuickBooks Desktop will end on 30th June 2023 for UK customers. The exceptions to this are for those who have an outright licence for QuickBooks 2015 or earlier versions, or for those who have a perpetual licence purchased via one-off payment (either directly from Intuit or through a retail outlet like Curry's) whom will still have access.

I'm not looking for any support or updates, just the right to use software I purchased via one off payment from an approved Intuit retailer.

I can't believe Intuit would penalise small businesses, particularly in the current economic situation. Some of us who travel to places without internet access and/or need to raise purchase orders and can't afford the internet monthly fees would be seen as being penalised by a large corporation. I'm sure they wouldn't want the bad publicity. Let's hope common sense prevails.

Hello Johnwhetstone, so if you have an outright license for anything older than 2026, you can use it after the discontinuation date, but there's no support, no activations, no updates or anything be nothing for it.

Yes! You can still use Quickbooks Desktop after 30 June - here's how.

1. Disable Quickbooks Automatic Updates. Go to Task Manager and disable everything to do with Quickbooks - you don't need them if they are not supporting!

2. Restart your computer but do not open Quickbooks Desktop ... yet or any other applications.

3. Change the date on your system.. Click on the clock / date at the bottom right of your screen and go to Date and time settings. Untick "Set the time automatically" and change the date and time to 30 June 2023.

4. Open Quickbooks desktop and open a company file.

5. Change the date on your system back.. Click on the clock / date at the bottom right of your screen and go to Date and time settings. Untick "Set the time automatically" so the time reverts to the actual time.

You should be able to use Quickbooks desktop as normal. Bear in mind that Quickbooks will still think the date and time is how you set them earlier - but you can still enter transactions for any date - even into July and forwards.

Let me know how you get on!
