I've got you covered in keeping your accounts updated in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @nigel3.

When your payment transactions are using the appropriate category, you can manually reconcile them. This way, your financial data in last year's accounts are accurate. To do this, here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the last year's account and from the Action column, select Account history.
  4. Locate and click the payment you want to open its details.
  5. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a checkmark), repeatedly click the field to change the status - Reconciled.
  6. Click Save. Repeat the process as needed.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last three steps.

Also, I encourage you to reconcile your accounts every month. This way, you're able to make sure the amounts match your real-life bank and credit card statements. Then, you can effectively manage your income, expenses, and detect any possible errors accordingly. To further guide you in doing or fixing a reconciliation in QBO, you can refer to this article: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have other banking and/or reconciliation concerns in QBO. Just drop your comments below and I'll be glad to help. Take care and stay safe always.
