Renewing Bank Account

Last week I renewed my bank account as directed. First it showed 2 accounts, same account replicated. When I deleted the older version I lost all transactions back to beginning of financial year exept 3 or 4 latest. I then had to go to Bank account and download transactions and instal them in QB. I then had to re-enter all Invoices and receipts. This is a real pain and totally unnessessary. I see that the permisiion only lasts until October, so assume I have to go through the whole thing again.

I also look after my wifes account and that is asking me to update bank account. I fear I will have same issues.

I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS.

Please let me know if there is a way round the loss and need to reinstal transactions evry time?

Hi gruns,

Thanks for joining us here on the Community 👋🏻

Can I check if you're using QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Self-Employed?

In QuickBooks Self-Employed, when a bank account is deleted all of the transactions associated with that account will also be removed, though our technicians can usually pull all of these back through if needed 👨🏻‍🔧

Re-authorising the connection shouldn't cause this to duplicate, so I'd like to take a closer look at this. What bank provider with and what is the account-type you have connected?

We are both using QBSE and Bank with Barclays. I have not updated wifes bank tet hoping there is a way round the issue.

I did notice on my account after posting this that most transactions were doubled and I have had to exclude them. Would the transactions have appeared later even if I never ree-imported them?

Hello Gruns,

If you have manually put transactions in or import the transactions in and then the bank has been connected with a live feed it would have pulled through the transactions for you. That would be why there are duplicate transactions showing in your account. You did the right thing by excluding the duplicated transactions.

I'm having exactly the same issue but i bank wit HSBC, the last 2 times i've had to renew my connection it duplicates my account.  If i remove one it deletes everything.  It's so annoying.  I end up having to delete account then obviously have to start again and go through every transaction.  I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription as i havent got the time for this every three months!

Hi Jacqui32, thanks for joining this thread - can we check if you're using QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Self-Employed?

With QuickBooks Self-Employed, if a new connection is created, we can move the transactions as categorised from the old to new account, meaning you won't have to double-back on any work you've already done. If you're finding that a new connection is created each time, please reach our team on this link so that we can investigate further 🙂

I have had exactly the same.  Support from Quickbooks has been friendly and useless.  They will get back to me within 15 days.

I am now in a situation where I cant file my VAT return.  If I had kept using Excel then this would not have been an issue.
