Question

Struggling to connect Quickbooks to my NatWest bank account. I think NatWest accept it, but it then it’s says ‘authentication failed input’ on its return back to the intuit platform. Anyone else had this problem?

Hello, paulloughlinjoin.

Thank you for bringing this matter in the Community. I've checked our records and we're unable to find any connection issue regarding the NatWest Bank.

I have a few troubleshooting steps you can try to re-establish the connection of your Nat West account.

Let’s start by logging in to your account and then navigate to the transactions page. From there, check if there’s a message or prompt that needs attention. If there’s none, log out of the account.

Next, open the company file using the In Private or incognito mode to check if this is a cache related issue. This type of session allows QBO to run without collecting cache and cookies.

Here’s how to bring up one:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Proceed to connect the online bank account from there to see if the issue persists. If that works, go back to the regular browser, and clear its cache. Otherwise, open a different browser that's available for you.

If they encounter other issues such as error codes during this process, you can forward this article: Open Banking connection errors. It's a list of specific error codes, as well as the steps to resolve it.
