Question

Trying to reconnect bank feed to existing account, and it create a duplicate account?

- I followed the way I did it originally:

  • Select banking screen, then select the pencil icon, edit account info to open up that bank account info; I then select disconnect this bank account and click save and close
  • I then goto chart of accounts, dropdown arrow, and select connect bank account
  • However, when I  follow the prompts and connect the account, it created a duplicate bank account instead of connecting to the existing account inside of QuickBooks Online.

Very frustrated and not sure how to fix this; did QuickBooks change the way they make you do this without telling people?!

I'm sad to hear about the issue you're experiencing when reconnecting your bank account in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @pallc.

I'm here to ensure you can reconnect your bank account seamlessly.

Reconnecting bank accounts in QuickBooks doesn't create a duplicate account, we have to ensure that the account was successfully disconnected before we start the reconnection.

To get this fix, we can perform the browser troubleshooting procedures in this situation. This enhances the performance and speed of your browser. Additionally, as this is probably a cache-related problem, you may use a private or incognito window to rule it out.

Please these shortcut keys to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P

After you log in to your account in a private window, try to connect again your bank account, and if it works, you can return to your default browser or you may also use a different supported browser to eliminate the erroneous webpage data.

However, if the issue persists, I'd like to ask for a screenshot of the disconnect and reconnecting of the bank account. This allows us to investigate further and provide you with the best solution for your problem.
