Question

We keep losing connection to our Agent Services Account and are having to reconnect it every week or so. We are not aware that we are doing anything different. Any ideas?

It happens when we try to submit a VAT return. We submit in the usual manor but when connecting to HMRC we recieve a 'blocked' message and then we have to reconnect our ASA with QBs. This is most annoying as only the most senior person at our firm can reconnect the ASA so we are having to interupt their day to resolve the issue before we can continue filing VAT returns. This has only started happening in the last couple of months and as far as I am aware we are doing nothing different.

Submitting a VAT return is on a quarterly basis, but it can vary depending on your specific VAT reporting schedule. If you're on a quarterly schedule, you won't be able to submit your return until the month period ends. Otherwise, there will be connection issues, which you're currently experiencing.

Thank you for your response. We are a firm of accounts and have been using QBs to file VAT returns for 5 years. We currently have over 50 clients we submit vat returns for via our ASA.

 

The issue is that we keep losing connection with HMRC. It first happened in October and then again on Monday and yesterday. After reconnecting the ASA it does allow us to submit the VAT returns but we cannot understand why it keeps disconnecting our account. I'm posting here incase it is happening to anyone else.

Hello Agsmith1610, thanks for posting on this thread, so it should not keep disconnecting for you, can you ring the supportline on 0808 234 5337 so this can be looked into more for you, the line is open mon to fri 8am to 7pm and is free from any UK landline or mobile.
