Question

WF Bank Feeds

Does anyone know how far back bank feeds can go?

We started manually entering transactions in, but as we continue to grow and see more transactions, it would be easier to have it automatically put in. The question stems more from a catch-up standpoint. If we were to catch up, how far back does the feed from WF go? Will I be able to reconcile 3-6 months back? What about 1-2 years?

    Hello there, RBLV-7026.

Welcome to the Online Community. I’ll be glad to provide more insights about downloading banking transactions and reconciling them.

When connecting your account for the first time, QuickBooks downloads the last 90 days of transactions. If you need more than 90 days worth of transactions, you can export them from the bank and upload them into QuickBooks.

You'll want to contact your financial institution and check if they offer a WebConnect file. If they can, let's go ahead and sign into your bank's website and follow the online process for downloading transactions.

Once you're ready, then let's upload the file to your company.

    Here's how:

    1. Go to Banking on the left panel.
    2. Choose Banking at the top then click File Upload. If you’ve never connected an account, select Upload transactions manually at the bottom of the screen.
    3. Click Browse and choose the file you saved in Step 1.
    4. Click Next.
    5. From the QuickBooks account drop-down, select the account you want to upload the bank data and then click Next.
    6. If you don't have accounts set up yet, select Add New then add an account. If you're uploading a CSV file, you're prompted to select columns from the CSV file that match QuickBooks Online banking fields. Then, click Next when you're done.
    7. Select Let's go! or Finish depending on what you see.

In regard to the reconciliation process, you can start with the oldest bank statement that hasn't been reconciled, and keep going until your reach the most recent statement. Since you're reconciling, you might want to check out these helpful articles.

Feel free to let me know if you have other questions about online banking, and I'll be happy to clear them up for you.
