Why is my bank account not connecting to my qb?

I want to ensure you can connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online, Matthew.

There are several possible reasons why your bank is not linking to online banking in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I will outline these reasons below and provide step-by-step instructions on how to find and connect the accurate bank accordingly:

 

  • Your bank may have multiple names on our list. 
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts.
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

 

You can link your bank account to QBO when they're a participating financial institution. To check, I encourage you to visit the Connect an Account page and search using their website's URL. 

 

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, then Transactions and select Bank transactions, or go to Banking.
  2. If this is the first bank account you’ve set up, select Connect account. Or select Link account if you already created one.
  3. In the Connect an account page's search field, enter the name of your bank, or preferably your bank's URL. 
  4. Hit the Enter key.
  5. When your bank appears on the list, select it and follow the on-screen steps to connect your credit card account.

 

To link your bank account to QBO, your financial institution must be a participating entity. To verify this, I recommend visiting the Connect an Account page and searching using the URL of their website.

 

If the problem persists, I suggest manually uploading your transactions to keep your financial data updated. 

 

Additionally, I highly encourage you to reconcile your account monthly. This practice allows for effective monitoring of your income and expense transactions, enabling the timely detection and resolution of any possible errors.
